Thanks for the replies, I've not got a berlingo but have been seriously tempted as I miss my dispatch hdi, just not a big lover of anything with a dpf as I don't do much mileage.

Ho bloody hell, I have just bought a 2011 1.6 e-hdi c5 with the egs6 gearbox and stop / start. The garage insisted they change the oil and filter before I took delivery of the car. Can you tell me what torque these bolts need to be please, I must get this sorted as on pension and have no extra cash to repair or change the car.

What are you referring to? Torque for what bolts? I think I have your VIN already - so this is based on the DV6C Engine on your car:

Presumably the injector clamp bolts - which as it is a DV6C you don't need to worry about! They swapped back to proper injector clamps with decent sized bolts, and the DV6C gives virtually no problems with leaky injectors or turbo failure.

You are a star mate, I thought that my car was one of those that had the turbo failure every other month. I still will do my oil changes every 6 k though that will take me over a couple of years to do, i don't drive much as you can guess.

is engine no JBEG3007564 a DV6C. On the plastic engine cover, it has hdi 16 does that mean 1.6 or 16 valve ?????

That means 16 Valve on the engine cover, but in your case the DV6C is also 1.6L Engine.

So,,,,, Does my engine have 8 valves or 16 valves and going by the engine no. does it have the updated fixings for the injectors??????

Ok, you can be forgiven for getting a little confused - not helped by that engine cover either. Mine is a 2.0 HDi 16 Valve. My engine cover says HDI 16 on it - so I assumed that was 16 valves - the fact that you have the same on yours is odd - unless they decided 'what the hell why bother with 2 covers - it'll do for both a 16 valve engine and a 1.6 engine with 8 valves'!
You have the DV6C engine, that as Richard refers to was changed in 2011 and reduced from a 16V DOHC to an 8V SOHC. Looking at your VIN the '9HR' denotes DV6 1.6 HDi - so look under the 9HR column below.

An 8V engine should have a felt cover.., but looks quite different under the cover, see pics in this thread:

Looking at the docs for Renegade's car shows this cover - which is almost the same as the Picasso one Richard, bar the 'e-HDI'

Ah, only ever seen one in a Picasso with that felt cover.... learn something new every day. Anyway, the turbo outlet and DPF are a different shape on the DV6C so it should be ID able regardless of the cover.

It seems there are always some 'crossover' issues when the models change engines - 'Oldboy' seems to have his share with his Picasso too!

If we are talking about the 16V HDi (DV6TED4) 110 engine, the Citroen warranty fix was to replace turbo, modified oil feed pipe (larger dia?) and replacing the oil pump with an uprated one. As its a lot of work to change the oil pump, it wouldn't be surprising if sometimes (non-warranty of course) the pump wasn't changed or the bottom end inspected - not easy to tell without a bottom-end strip.wideboyno1 wrote:The Xantia never had the 1.6hdi so would not have suffered this issue.Bullet proof 2.0hdi was in every one i had.

However, the 2011-on 8V (DV6C) 110, 112 or 115 (Citroen can't make up their mind what it's rated at) engine this does not appear to suffer the same problem.
With all these high-output (highly-stressed) engines, it's essential to drain as much old oil as possible: drain when really hot (cooling fans running), filter off first, leave to drip for 10 minutes; only then replace filter and fill with correct amount of the specified oil quality. NEVER use an oil that doesn't meet the Citroen spec.
