Coverting to 6 speed box

Post by waynedance »

Asked about this before but not really got a yes or no answer.

Having to put a new engine in my car from an 06 plate 607 which i guess would of had a 6 speed. Can I while changing the engine change my 5 speed to 6? the C5 did come with both 5 & 6 speed with the same engine.

Would I need a new selector or any other parts?

Does anyone have access to something to check the difference between part numbers between the two different vehicles, could get some reg plates of ebay to compare.

Wayne

http://service.citroen.com/ has free access to Citroen parts catalogue.

By crosschecking between your cra and the model from which you want to transplant the gearbox, you shopuld be able to work out what is required.

had a look and it seems the clutches are the same, the gear calbe set up is the same but the 5 speed lists and extra screw and washer.

May be more trouble than its worth, when I bought my C5 I looked at the mpg on both 5 & 6 and both were the same on paper so may not be worth the hassle and one less gear to change.

i would have thought there is more electricary involved on an 06 607 than on an 03 C5,
and not just relating to the box but engine also?????
