Believe I finally have the heater sorted (touch wood - Thanks Paul ), but now looking at getting the pre heater working.
Looked though old posts and found out how to by pass the relay to get it to fire up to test it, but just wondered when it should kick in.
Had a couple of cold morning (and more to come by the looks of it), so just wondered if it had not been cold enough to start yet??
Probably going to be the glo plug, but as a long shot I thought it might be working, but has not been cold enough to "start" yet.
Thanks

HDi heater plug operation > http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... 11&t=33672" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Basically you won't see the light if its above 0c
EDIT... Ignore me, I think you mean the coolant heater on these due to the HDi engine not putting out a lot of heat, in which case ignore my reply.

Re: Xantia Pre Heater (Eberspacher) - S2 Hdi Exclusive
The eberspacher thingy heater was an optional diesel burning heater fitted behind the passenger wing.. if you look under the front ahead of the gearbox you will see an exhaust pointing down if its fitted...
Other wise there's a glow plug type heater fitted in the heater matrix coolant pipe at the fire wall back of the engine you can easily see it with thick yellow wires going to it. not sure what type of heater plugs they are i just switch on the heated seat till the car has warmed...about 3 miles or more ... then use the heater once hot..
the ebersacher heater is not reliable and i think prone to leaks but Im not certain. they are expensive though.. the heater plug unit is not an eberscacher unit..

If you bypass the relay it will fire up irrespective of the outside temperature.gadgetgricey wrote:Believe I finally have the heater sorted (touch wood - Thanks Paul ), but now looking at getting the pre heater working.

Yep, have not done that yet, just wondered what triggers it in "normal" life.DickieG wrote: If you bypass the relay it will fire up irrespective of the outside temperature.
ie does the temp have to drop below 0 degrees C or something?
