Thats interesting, I would say the accelerator pedal is about 1.5 - 2 inches lower than the brake pedal ! I will adjust that over the weekend, Hopefully it will be a different car after ! I am hoping it will help fuel economy too ? I wish i had done this befor spending £75 on a new vdo air flow meter !!

Anything you do to fix the throttle so that you can press it down fully is hardly going to help your fuel economy. :-D

Taking the slack out of the throttle cable adjustment will let you open the throttle wider than before. If you make use of that you'll burn more fuel...

I have nt been happy with it for a while,it dipped to 35ish around town and 50 on a run, I am not sure what the mpg change is with the new air flow metet. Being honest i am light on the accelerator, I feel disapointed in the car compared to my old xantia as its a slow slug ! I am really hoping adjusting the cable will put some life back into the car ! My thoughts on the fuel economy is with the throttle opening properly is i can be even lighter on the pedal, I will comment once i have done it hopefully tomorrow , weather allowing we have wet white stuff out side !!!!!!!!

it is a bit low at that. it helped mine alot cleaning out the air intake and running a good quality fuel system cleaner through it. it pulls well now it was a slug before,

Doesn't sound too shabby to me ?

Wishful thinking I'm afraid. All slack in the accelerator cable does is limits the maximum throttle opening. When you press it to the floor you might be getting 70% throttle instead of 100% for example. You're still pushing the pedal the same distance to get the same throttle butterfly opening...

Adjusted the cable on mine, though it still has a bit of slack in it. New diesel filter, new (dry!) air filter, and a damn good thraping for a tankful or two means the last tankful got me around 50mpg in mixed driving. I do drive economically, but I don't hang about either. I roughly calculated this by brimming the tank til the first click, running it until the light came on, then brimming it at the same pump again, taking into account the 4 miles or so back to the pump. It worked out at 50.3mpg, so somewhere not far off. It was getting 40-45 before, and as low as 32 when I got it .

If i can get my car to about 37 mpg round town and 55 min on a long trip i will be happy, Hopefully not asking too much, I would say according to the fuel computer the car is back on 37.
I know it sounds not much but every little helps things are a bit tight.
I will report back once the throttle is done i am almost tempted outside now to do it !!

hi,
mine was very low, oneday came and ran a lexia on it and it was fine, he then adjusted the throttle cable, only a 5 minute job if you know what you are doing and my pedal is now just about level with the brake pedal, before I could put my foot under it and move it up loads.......turbo wasn't even kicking in before it was that low, now it's like having a totally new car........I am very pleased.........
