Xantia Sinker question..

Post by citroenxm »

So, tell me Sinker Drivers... Why do Sinkers Sink? Well, I DO Know the answer to that.. no problem BUT

Why dont Sinkers Sink when they are put on Intermediate height??

I moved a Sinker with my A frame today on intermediate height for 12 miles, and the suspension never moved an ounch!

I've never left my 'sinker' in intermediate height to find out what mine does but if it doesn't sink i'm guessing in that position it must lock the lines somehow so the pressure stays there keeping the car up.

The older air suspended Mercs were similar in this respect, they had a position where the suspension was essentially locked at it's current height.

I left mine on maximum height one morning at work and by lunch time it was more or less sunk. I didn't think to try it on intermediate tho. My last BX stayed up all night on max though and my CX stays up at the rear overnight from max position. My xantia is a fast sinker at about 4 hours to the stops from normal height. My BX would really stay up all day almost looked like anti sink.

older hydraulic citroens pre XANT's could stay at what ever height they were left in for days, if the system was all in good condition that is, and they hadent invented the anti sink valve back then
