rear camber angle and axle problem

Post by goose »

hi everyone im gareth im new here so go easy!!
ive got a problem with my citroen zx 2.0 16v
it seems that someone has gone into the side of the wheel therefore
setting it out of alignment. it is causing alot of problems due to tyre wear and its also rubing on the chassis, the tyre wall is on its last legs.
i work in a garage and today done a geometry test (tracking)
the camber was way out and a collegue told me that it seems the trailing arm is bent.
so i rang up citroen they sed theyve never sold one b4 and came back with the price of £250!
i dont really want to pay that much
so i asked a few scrappies and they didnt know what was compatible
and they only sell the full axels which are in the region of about£80-£120 so id rather do that
i have 2 questions i need answering if u can help
1)what is compatible it needs to have abs and disk brakes on it iknow that but will ne thing from a lower spec zx or a pug 306 fit?
2)where can i get one from? does ne one know of ne scrappies in the southwales region that mite do one wqill gsf or GSF competitor be able to get one? please let me know ppl asap

Forget what I said! I thought I read that you had a BX with a duff arm.

Your trailing arm bearings are bolloxed, when they reach that stage the arm shaft is usually unservicable.
They can be a bugger to take down but it can be done, I've done them for one, on a 205 years ago.
BX arms wont fit, totally different.
Suggest you have a look at this and give them a bell first.

If you're in South-West Wales, near Neath, and need the scrappy option, then you may be best served by Gillards near Neath Abbey (very cheap the last time I went there, if a bit rough and ready).
However, I'd be VERY cautious about wear items such as rear arms or mounts from a scrappy unless you can see they've recently been replaced - best to treat them as "possibly suitable for refurb" if they're from this source.
