Questions on Timing Belt Replacement

Post by begins »

Hi all,

I’m looking at changing the timing belt. However, I’m not quite certain what to order for my used 2007 C5 2.0L Petrol model and I need some advice here:

For the Timing Belt Kit, The Contitech Timing Belt kit seems ok at £128.40 and the Circoli water pump is at £58.20. These are prices from Eurocarparts.

For the Circoli Water Pump, it comes with the cover. I read from other forums that, some suggested not to order water pump with cover as it may be difficult or unable to fit into the original housing. Is this true?

Are there better brands/models out there that I should seriously consider as well?

By the way, the postage is another £35 to reach my country.

Kindly advise me and Thank you very much.

Regards,

Tbh i'd look on eBay for a timing belt kit & water pump. Most sellers will ask you for your chassis number to ensure its the correct kit but thats not an issue. Dayco, SKF and Conti are 3 decent manufacturers that spring to mind but there are loads out there, i got a timing belt kit and water pump for my 2.2HDi for about £90 the pair inc postage, its amazing what you can do if you spend a little time shopping around.

For £90, that was really a steal! Do you mind to PM me where did you get it from?

Thank you very much.

Try Eurocarparts subsidary: carparts4less.co.uk

Usually cheaper than ECP (almost trade prices).
