Sounds like one or other of the dogbones on the height corrector linkages has popped of Tim. These are the white plastic links between the anti roll bars and the height corrector mechanisms.

It'll more than likely be the rear one.

Very safely support the car on axle stands or on a ramp before venturing under to have a look.

There is only one at the rear and one at the front. The rear one is very easy to get to - drive the back of the car up on ramps making sure there is enough room for you underneath even with the suspension right down. You can get a lot more room to work if you remove the spare wheel carrier, but if your ramps have enough lift you wont need to.

The front one is a bit harder to get to as the height corrector is above the chassis and back behind the engine/gearbox, so you need some ramps with a good amount of lift to do the front one safely.

The "dog bone" is just a small nylon link about 2" long with a ball cup on each end. its replaced by popping it off and popping the new one on. They're not expensive - about £2 or so for a pair from Citroen.

Is both the front and rear misbehaving or just the rear ?

While your under the rear, bear this in mind!

Why has the "Dog Bone" dropped off?? Its useually because one of the ball joint cap ends has elongated and worn... So, Why has it elongated and worn?? Useually because the rear lever that its connected too has started or has already seized..

The lever in the car is connected to the Other lever, hence why the car comes up with it, which indicates that lever is not siezed. What the link does, is it maintains the height.. Hence the rear dropping as it has no reference to regulate the height..

However, saying that about siezage, the lever may not be siezed at all... and simply needs a replacment link..

The ends pop on, if the "Ball" points are good, they will be a very tight fit and POP on well!! If they go on rather easilly then you be looking at needing a replacment unit..

By a good fit, I mean you need assitance to snap the ends in, Pliers, screw driver, what ever you think, but certainly not by hand.

Timmy, the proper name is 'Correction Link' and the part number from dealers is 5291 03

Most dealers will know it as a dog bone though :)

QUICK UPDATE !!!
Still awaiting the part to be delivered.I am sure they are having a laugh, this is one company i would not recommend. The worst part is i haven't had time to get another as i have been working all week, and tbh i don't know the nearest Citroen dealership in Leeds, and really i shouldn't have to buy another anyway :(
Well Thats enough of my bitching:)
Could i also take this time to wish Each and EVERYONE on the Frenchcarforum a Brilliant Xmas and an even Better New Year...Bring on 2013 :)
