I went to start the Xantia yesterday after a long while, its been in my lock up and the battery went flat. I couldnt get in with the remote so used the key, for some reason the car locks and unlocks ok now the battery is charged but the drivers door is stuck fast even though the lock button is going up and down!
The deadlocks had been activated when I parked it up (via the key as the remote was playing up).
Any thoughts as I need to move it and its up tite against the passenger door in the lock up.

Re: Xantia Drivers Door Wont Open
Sounds like the deadlock is still mechanically engaged on that door, perhaps the ECU has lost track of the state of the deadlock bolts when the battery went flat ? (I don't think there is any sensor switch on the deadlock bolts - the ECU just "remembers" whether they are currently deadlocked or not)
What happens if you deadlock the car again with the plip (rather than just locking normally with one button press or the key) and then unlock again ? That should put the deadlock bolts through a lock/unlock cycle again and may free them up.
PS I'm wary of using the deadlock any time that the car could be left for a long time and the battery may go flat, exactly because of the problem you've run into here...

Re: Xantia Drivers Door Wont Open
if u just need to move it cant u get in the back and climb through the car to get it started or at lleast let off the handbrake and give her a tow/push to get it out of the tight spot.

Fitted the newly charge battery, locked and unlocked it a number of times and HEY PRESTO! Access is now granted.
Thanks Chaps.

Umm, not if the dead locking bolt was engaged ?DickieG wrote:Err if the battery is flat you could use the key,,
It requires power via the central locking to disengage the deadlocks as far as I know, thus not possible by key with a flat battery. Correct me if I'm wrong if anyone has tested this.
Clearly he had already tried the key before posting as well. My guess is the central locking just remembers whether the dead locking is engaged, and will only command the dead locks to unlock if it thinks it is currently deadlocked. Thus the flat battery made the central locking forget the dead locking was active, so during a normal lock unlock cycle it saw no reason to unlock the deadlocks...dead locking and then unlocking would get it back into sync again.
