Citroen Specialist in the South East?

Post by pete woods »

Anyone recommend a garage in Kent. I want to get the injection checked out. Would a Peugeot garage be better than a citroen one?

If I were you I'd be looking at specialist injection workshops rather than Cit/Pug dealers.
Don't know where you are in Kent but there's Thomas Auto Injection at Ashford, SE Auto Electrical Services in Maidstone, Auto Injection in Canterbury, Cooks Auto Diesel Services at Faversham.

I,m in Ashford. Have you used any of the above? How much should I expect to pay to have the system checked & set up?

No! I haven't used them and haven't a clue as to charges. Give them a ring and ask. Thomas Injection Centre is at Unit 93, Ellingham Industrial Estate, 01233 642816. They do both Bosch and Lucas Service.

The Diesel Injection Specialist near where I used to work charges £80 for a full diagnostic. Sounds a lot, but it covers everything like:
Battery condition
Starter Circuit check
Compression Test
Injector supply pressures
Injector Condition (Bench Test)
Heater Plug Controller
Heater Plugs (Bench Test)
Stop Solenoid
Filter Vacuum
Transfer Pump Check
Anti Stall Speed
Cambox Pressure
Static Timing
Dynamic Timing
Idle Speed
Smoke Test
The checklist they use is a Lucas form so I presume that other specialists will carry out the same tests. If you pay for the diagnostic they don't charge labour to replace a part they've tested, eg the glowplugs or the injectors.
If its a cold start problem they will probably ask you to leave the car the night before.
