Lexia 345 - No dialogue with ECU during initialisation

Post by ozzys »

Hi experts,

I need to clear the "Antipollution fault" on my C5 (2.0 petrol)

I got a chinese Lexia 345, installed it and connected to my Citroen.
Initially it looks good . But when I go to Diagnosis - Power unit - Engine
I see the following :

BSI YES NO
Instrument panel YES NO
Switch module at the steering wheel YES NO
Injection YES ?
Anti-lock brake system YES NO

So there are no faults in there but the 'Injection' item (where I believe the Antipollution fault might be) shows the question mark.
I tried to do a new initialisation of the dialogue with the ECU , but Lexia issues:

No dialogue with Ecu during initialisation
Validate for a new test or press Return key

(I selected the 2.0L RFN MM48P 16 valve engine)

My question is what I have done wrong ? Or do I need to update my Lexia software part ?

Thank you .
Regards,

on mine you have to have the engine running to read the injection not sure if this helps you

You need to have the ignition turned on but not normally have the engine running after all how would you access a non running engine? Rather than run a "Global Test" on all systems have you tried accessing just the ignition? If you're already on the global test put the marker on the ignition line then press enter, that normally gets you in.

of course, I had the ignition ON (but not running engine).

another thing is that I used 'Testing functions' but not the 'Global test'. is that right approach just for clearing a fault message ?

thank you.

You don't need the engine running do a global test it will tell you to turn off ignition and turn back on. Turn off ignition switch on and validate on lexia, test will run. Then go to injection panel and validate, read faults. You have to read them before you can clear them.

When I click on Injection (highlight and Enter) I select Petrol engine, then my 2.0L MM48P - the initialisation is starting

every time from every place I get the question mark against the Injection (i think the Antipollution fault to be there)

Odd. When you start up, you are selecting the correct C5 - as in, pre-facelift?

You are then entering the correct RPO? It should tell you the VIN and ask for the RPO. If it's less than 10000, don't forget the first zero.

Have any parts of the car been swapped?

of course I select C5
regarding RPO i know to put anything, say, 12345 (some people say first 5 digits of VIN but system doesn't like it) or 11111

Lexia sees my VIN correctly

Not sure about parts...

One thing -
3 months ago Peugeot service (when they did a next service) erased the Antipollution fault on my Citroen successfully.
But i don't know how and where...

it may be because you are not putting the correct rpo in the rpo is found on the door pillar where the tyre pressures are its a 5 diget number if it starts with a 0 leave it off and use 4 diget

There's only really a few possibilities here:

1) Not entering the correct RPO number - the Lexia uses the VIN and RPO to figure out what ECU's there should be in the car. The wrong RPO or VIN will leave it looking for the wrong model or revision ECU's.

2) Out of date Lexia software - you say you have version 345, where are you getting that number ? Can you check in "Configure your Diagnostic Tool" -> "General Configuration" -> "Tool Configuration", you will see a screen with software and hardware versions. Mine says Lexia (500.44) which is more or less the latest version. Version 345 sounds old to me and possibly doesn't know about the revision of ECU your car has.

3) As addo suggests, the ECU may not be the original model or revision ECU that came with the car - the Lexia software has a database of what revision ECU's shipped with each car based on VIN and RPO. If it has been replaced by a different version from a different car it might take some fudging of the VIN or RPO to get it to look for the correct ECU revision.

4) Faulty ECU, hacked/remapped/chipped ECU or faulty wiring to the ECU.

My hunch is it will be option 1 or 2. It might also be worth disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes to reset the engine ECU, then turn the ignition on just before running the test.

thank you for your valuable input.

i have checked the item 1 : put the RPO number which I found successfully.
unfortunately lexia still issues the same message.

today i will update lexia and try again.

regarding your items 3 and 4.
there is a small chance of that because i am not the first owner.

but as i said above, Peugeot service reset Antipollution fault 3 months ago
(i assume they used an official Lexia)

so i suggest something is wrong with what I did or with this software.

my next service I 'll try to see how they (Peugeot) do that

THANK YOU

Are you in or near Sydney?

Another two causes of poor or no dialogue, are no power to the diagnostic connector +12V pin, and putting in the wrong evolution of car - eg, if it's a C5 facelift, don't book it in as a plain C5. Comms protocols are different enough you'll get poor interaction.
