What's the diffirence between the C5 2.0 hdi vtr and lx

Is it bodywork, and if so what and where....as engines are (as far as i could see) the same ie both 2.0 and 110's

Which year VTR is it? If its up to 2004 then its the the pre-facelift C5. If 2004 and onwards then its the facelift. I guess its a C5I is both cars have the 110 2.0HDi

The LX is the basic trim which could be had with the 2.0HDi in both 90bhp and 110bhp. It had manual air con, no trip computer, a more basic looking seat material, no larger centre display screen, steel wheels etc.

The VTR is the trim level which replaced the SX, the one up from LX. It has alloy wheels, a rear wiper if a saloon, trip computer, larger central display screen, nicer interior withi blue/grey seats, blue seatbelts, blue dash trims etc. Alarm, etc. Its mid spec.

The only external differences will be the VTR has 16" alloy wheels, the LX has 15" steel wheels. The VTR has colour coded bumper and door rubbing strips, the LX had black. And the VTR has a rear wiper if they are both hatchbacks.

So engines are the same, i thought because it was called that it had more power, obviously not, mine's an 03 lx and has cc bumpers, i dont have the car in the display in the dash though, just the radio.

Like i say, i honestly thought it was a more powerfull engine, i guess that's me thinking along the lines of the Honda vtec ect....

alot of people dont realise the lx is only a two line display so you only get basic info

Vtr had trims not alloys

VTR is purely a trim badge/spec. level. Citroen did use it for the Saxo, Xsara, C3 and earlier C2s as slightly performance orientated model. However they then dropped that idea (late C2 VTRs are pretty basic with steel wheels even) and started it as a mid spec trim level.

An LX has black bumper inserts but otherwise coloured bumpers. A VTR has fully colour coded bumpers with coloured inserts.

VTR does have 16" alloy wheels, if it had steel wheels then its had its wheels swapped.

If you want more performance get your current 2.0HDi 110 remapped or get a facelifted C5II with the 138bhp 2.0HDI.

The SX/VTR has a dual zone heating system and electric windows all round.

Apologies, I based that comment on someone saying that the VTR was a replacement for the SX, as far as I know all the SXs do.

That depends on how early or late an S1 C5 VTR it is. Usually 2003 cars have the manual controls of the LX. 2004 Cars have the dual zone climate as the SX. My previous C5 VTR, the silver 2004 pictured above, had dual zone climate.

VTR also has colour coded mirrors, as SX spec.
