Killing traffic master.

Post by xenton »

Please tell me this can be done easily via lexia? Due to my HPi fault I have to switch the ignition off and immediately back on to get the car out of limp home mode and every time I do this traffic master starts shouting at me, usually just hitting the traffic master button shuts it up, but for some reason, occasionally it causes it to start the message from the beginning, and there is nothing to do but sit through it.

nope no lexia option to kill her, best way is to find her box (behind glove box) and open it up then with a multi meter test for the 12 volt lives and push all the pins out of the connector (only the lives or you lose your speakers), then plug it back in and see if all your speakers work, then you get to do away with the switch as well

You can switch it into 'manual mode' by pressing the button twice quickly, it won't then interupt the music with traffic messages.
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.

Thanks, if it still shouts at me after trying manual mode I'll try that.

I think manual mode only stops it giving traffic reports as it gets them, which it will only do if you activate the subscription.
The shouting about renewing it when you quickly restart the car is different.

On the Xantias, the buttton is so big, if you wedge it in with a coin that shuts the cow up! and the radio still works...

Opening the TM box up could interupt the loud speakers for the radio as mentioned above...

I can confirm that killing the power to the box shuts it up forever and does not affect the speakers, I've done it on a Xantia and two C5s.

basically open the box up and get your multi meter set on volts and pull all the pins which are live so the dont connect any more, leave all the others so youve still got speakers
