Xantia S2 Air Conditioning ECU

Post by VertVega »

Hi, At the moment my Xantia is suffering from some electrical issues which causes dead instrument panel gauges, no air blower and no air conditioning.
This happened also during last summer but it was cured on its own after about an hour.

Reading from posts I started checking ignition key lock and connectors (grey, black and brown), fuses and etc. Thanks to CitroJim for the electrical drawings (mk2excachvcct.jpg, mk2excachvhar.jpg and mk2excachvloc.jpg) 8-)

Fuse F12 (passenger compartment) seems to be the one feeding the AirCon ECU.
F12 doesn't give 12 V reading and replacement with a new 20A fuse doesn't help.

Removed the glove box to reach the ECU but only thing I can see is the central locking ECU with two connectors black and yellow.
So where is the aircon ECU? Any ideas?

Could it be the one which causes this electrical problem.

No, not that one :( It would have been too easy.

I mean the ECU seen in one of the drawings I mentioned above.
Component has item number 8080.

I found a pic of it from ebay. One item for sale at the moment.
Modified the pic a bit and it is supposed to look like this:

Vertvega, it's tucked away and hidden on the side of the heater box. It not hard to get to actually if you remove the glove box and the piece of carpet/trim that covers the blower motor and pollen filter... It's not obvious but it's easy to see if you follow the wiring loom to it. Remove it by gently easing it down - you may need to release a holding clip. The connector is on the top of it and the wiring loom goes up the side of the ECU and gracefully comes down with it as you slide the ECU down.

That's where it is in an RHD car anyway. I hope it's the same for an LHD car as I guess the heater box is a mirror image of the RHD one

I was searching it from too high :) That's the reason I didn't see it.
LHD is exactly the mirror image. I was sitting on the passenger's side
with the glove box on my lap, disconnected the central locking ECU by mistake.
I was suspicious since the connectors had different amounts of pins as in your diagrams
and the black box function was clear to me when the doors didn't lock

I'll make another try. Thanks for your help.
