Oil change

Post by rowland420 »

I have a 2002 C5 2.2 Hdi diesel estate. I want to do an engine oil change. As there is no Haynes manual could anyone tell me the correct oil to use, and the basic tips and wrinkles to do the job.

Thanks

No promises that this is right for your C5, but my Xantia 2.0 HDi uses 5W40 fully synthetic. I would expect a post soon from CitroJim with all the information you need, or where to find it.

The C5 manual doesn't list the 2.2 but the 406 one does and that says: ACEA B3 or API CD/CF which is pretty standard oil, I use Comma from Trago Mills at about £13.00 a can.

There is no need for expensive low sulphur oil, I use 10/40 semi synthetic but can use fully synthetic.

Try these sites, I also called a contact at the dealer and he confirmed 10/40 semi.

I did read somewhere that it should be low sulpher oil but it doesn't say so in either of the Haynes manuals so I use the same spec as I used in the XUD engines - that's what it says.

5W-40 fully synth for mine, you can get it for £20 for 5 litres in Asda or if you want to spend a little more for low sulphur try this stuff from eBay...

Gentlemen,

Many thanks for all the information which is gratefully received. It seems you don't need a manual if your visit the French car forum.
