Problems, please help.

Post by DannyMurphy »

Hey,
I recently bought an ex company, 2009 c5 exclusive. I've noticed a few things don't work or are not activated and hope some of you might be able to help me.

Firstly the daytime running lights cant be activated as there isn't an option on the screen where they should be located.

Secondly my Navidrive system has no option in the menu for "Video" as stated in the navidrive manual and I believe this is why my auxiliary port from the glove box isn't working.

And lastly my headlight washers don't wash my headlights.

Just wondering if there is a simple fix to these or do I have to bring these to a main dealer to get sorted out? P.s. All fuses are ok.

Thanks for listening

Hi, sounds like there may be a configuration issue with your car, could possibly be a case of plugging into Diag box, and adjusting a few settings. U need a good specialist.

Have you checked to see if there are actually headlamp washer jets behind the bumper ? All (I think) the C5(X7) have the headlamp washer jet covers on the bumpers, but not all of them were fitted with washer jets - the same goes for the rear parking sensors, I think they've all got the mouldings for them , but they're not all fitted with sensors.
I've got the same issue with my daytime running lights, I haven't delved into my Diagbox to see if they've turn on-able yet.

Yea I have parking sensors installed and haven't checked to see if the jets are there but checked and the fuse is so assuming there installed, as extras I don't have have no fuse installed, obviously. So just assuming there installed.

What's the best way to check if there actually installed?

Pages 39 and 46 of the handbook, they are turned on and off via the instrument panel menu not the navidrive screen, press the left turnwheel on the drivers airbag, then vehicle parameters then lighting and signalling.

Does your car have the Xenon headlight option? If not then headlight washers more than likely aren't fitted as they were fitted as part of the Xenon headlights optional extra pack. The washers are quite a sight to behold when they operate as they extend out of the front bumper by quite some distance and give a good couple of squirts of washer fluid over the headlights and best of all as the second squirt is delayed some time after the first and after the wipers have re-parked none of the spray hits the windscreen, thoughtful aerodynamics in play :-D

Not necessarily so on the earlier C5 III - the DTRL option just isn't there on my '09 VTR+ NAV instrument panel flight computer(!) but the lamps are fitted in the light cluster at the front. I will set aside a few hours to wade through Diagbox to try and find the option in due course.

As for looking for the headlamp washer jets (DannyMurphy), a good poke and grope with a torch behind the bumper is probably the best way of determining if the equipment is fitted.

Well it's there on my 58 reg Exclusive fitted with nav, you can only access this menu and the video function menu when the car is stationary with the ignition turned on.

I've just been out to check, and with the ignition on but engine off there's only the choice of 'Guide Me Home' lighting timings and Directional Lights On/Off. The same options are available with engine on but car stationary, hence my earlier comments about me needing a session with my Diagbox.

On the instrument panel the only option in lighting is directional and guide me home lights, no option for DTRL's.

As for the video option, when stationary it's not there, just the other 6, nav, telephone, traffic, settings, etc.

I'll have a hike around with a torch tomorrow and see if can see the washer jets, just assumed they would be there when the fuse is there for them.

For those with a C5 III (X7) without the Daytime Running Lights option on their instrument panel...........
I've just had a quick session with my Diagbox and enabled the Daytime Running Lights via: BSI --> Repair --> Configuration --> Manual Configuration --> Customisation Customer. This has now put the DRL option onto the instrument panel and they work successfully. There are two options in the BSI for them: DRL on their own, or DRL plus sidelights.
Cheers,
Robin

My 08 Exclusive has DRL.
Top right roller botton on steering wheel
Vehicle perameters
Lights and Signaling-

Directional lights
DRL
Guide me Home
All enabled.

Can't understand the no Video on the Sat Nav. Thats where you can change colours etc so it should be on the menu screen. From the Nav menu, I have 8 options. The icon on the extreme left is Navigation Guidance and the one below it (anticlockwise) is the Video icon.

Is it possible that the Exclusive has more functions enabled? :?

Don't know if it sheds any light on the situation, but I think video on a screen visible to the driver is supposed to be disabled on all cars when driven faster than a snails pace - although I'm sure there will be countless exceptions to this and somone will be along shortly to prove me wrong :)

I think you're right. I have only seven icons on the menu not eight as I thought. The Video has options to set contrast, colours etc, but as there is no video to check it's difficult to know. I,m assuming that I changed my sat nav colours from a different source.
