Peter,

Are you sure the 406 ever got DMF? Xantia 110s dont have them and never did right into Y reg 01 plate...

My Xantia 110 HATES 5th at 1500rpm, HOWEVER I found I can throttle though it, if I put my foot down a bit more and made her pull more it stops... she just doesnt like 1500 rpm and 5th and cruising..

Try switching the trip computer to instant consumption readout, I got the feeling that staying in 5th and forcing the car through the low revs uses more fuel then changing down and gently accelerating in 4th....

i.ll agree with that mine is more economical in 4th at lower revs
