Regeneration?

Post by kentc5 »

Well one more question ... have been through the manual and tried search... but not much results :)
How do I know my car is regenerating? ... is there any indication when it does it?
Apparently it is meant to do it on long runs? I have read somewhere that it does every ... so many miles ie 500 or 600?
I have done 850 miles in the last 4 days of ownership lol ... and nothing appeared. On one hand I am happy I have not seen anything ... [-o<

The only way of telling by by watching the present fuel consumption reading, when the regeneration is underway consumption drops by around 10 mpg and when you lift off the drive altogether instead of seeing consumption of 999 mpg it'll be in the 200's, that is of course dependant upon the fuel reading being set to include consumption under regeneration, to know your car computer is set for that you'll need to look at instrument panel options using a Lexia. I don't know whether all C5's have this facility but my one does.

500 miles is about average distance for regeneration.

Not seen anything whilst driving our C4 Picasso, but can smell it when you get out if it's been regening - it smells pretty hot. I also stood behind whilst it was in the process or just finished when it was idling, and the heat coming out from underneath nearly cut my legs off!

LOL Steve .... I hope I will not see a Tardis popping infront of me!!!

Rich I do a lot of motorway miles... so not often stationary to check although with the current outside temps ... oven heat will feel nice lol.

I wonder if the previous owner removed something or not ...

I came across to this information while I was googling for the particulate filters on Peugeots and Citroens ... some might find it helpful :)

From what I remember of the Lexia session on your C4 a Lexia can tell you how many miles until the next regeneration is due, after that distance is travelled it should take the next opportunity (over 40mph for a sufficient period of time) to do so.
