Tyre Wear

Post by froggy »

Hi, The front nearside tyre on my Xantia is wearing on the inside edge. I had them tracked and balanced about three months ago. My question is; should I be looking to check any bushes or suspension parts? or even getting them re tracked ? many thanks Terry . :?

Before spending money on tracking take a look at the condition of rear bush on the lower suspension arms, any signs of cracking or splitting and they're knackered, if you get the tracking adjusted before checking/fitting new bushes the alignment will be set incorrectly and you'll have to get it done twice.

If the tracking was at fault both tyres would be wearing, I have known this be caused by the tyre itself being defective but check the bushes as Dickie says.

look at the front suspension arm below the hub, folow it to were it is bolted onto the sub frame there you will see a bush at both mounting points,
a bush at the front end and a ( P bush ) at the rear end,
DickieG is referring to the rear ( P bush ),

although play in either of the arm bush's or the lower swivel joint can/will cause tyre wear
