Xantia heater fan - different types.

Post by Spaces »

The interior fan has gone on my parents' Xantia and I've just had a quick look on ebay to see what's available. Sellers are making a distinction between aircon and non-aircon as well as between S1 and S2. Anyone who has a good Xantia knowledge know if they are all different, and if so whether they are at all interchangeable? Thanks!

I have tried a 12v feed and there is still no movement, even when the cage was moved by hand and the motor given a couple of taps. So unless the earth is faulty (will check it) can't see it could be much else. I did resurrect one years ago by removing it, hoovering all the carbon dust out then refitting.

Yes Air Con and Non Air con blowers are different... Air con blowers have a built in transister board that controls the speed vairably when in automatic setting, where non air con blowers are JUST a blower motor. The speed controled by the blower Resister located in the blower trunking a bit further along...

I do though, beleve that S1 and S2 blowers are all the same... Transister boards from a Xsara will also do the job, as I fitted a transister board from a Xantia to a Xsara blower once...

First thing to find out... Do they have Air Con or not...??

XM Blowers are different too, and its down to the positioning of the blower in the heater ducting...

If the blower is over next to the door and intake they are swappable, but if the blower is over next to the heater then they wont do.... Im guessing Peugeot ones are useually placed next to the heater box...

Many thanks for the useful replies. It's a S1 with aircon. Can't remember where the red wire I supplied with 12v was, direct to the motor or via the transistor board. Will have to have another look.

Air con, it will have a trasister board...

One of THESE should do the repair then perfectly...

What also happens, on the 5 way red plug the terminals in the red plug get a bit warm and suffer from arcing, this can give dodgy connections too...

Yes, I'd seen those - is it as likely to have failed than the motor I wonder? As I said above, can't remember if I took 12v direct to the motor or via the board. Must check asap.
