Xantia Jack

Post by Sam KS »

Dose any other car use the same "hi-rise" jack as the Xantia? Our car came with out a jack or spare tyre and are having trouble finding replacements from local breakers. I have a spare scissor jack and a lump of wood but i'd rather the right one.

any advice on other cars to look out for at the breakers?

also wheels?

Don't know about jacks. But be careful about spare wheels
- Xantias with alloy wheels have a special steel spare with inserted spacers to cater for the longer alloy wheel bolts. Obviously, you could use a 'mismatching' wheel as a spare provided you get a matching set of bolts (and remember to use them in an emergency [-X ).
- Check rim sizes carefully, some humbler Xantia models (some petrol hatches I think) have 14" wheels not the 15" wheels standard on Estates and I think some high-spec Xantias had wider rims too - if I'm wrong someone will soon correct me! :-D

Also once you've found a jack, should you ever need to use it, remember you don't use the jack to lift the car.
Slacken the wheel bolts, set the car on high, put the jack under the jacking point by the wheel you want to change and extend it so it is secure, then set the car on low and watch the wheel lift up for you.

What about that wrecker up your way with the gold Xantia sedan?

Spare wheel is usually easiest to grab another Series 2 alloy.

Thanks for the heads up on spare and wheels changing, I have been putting car on high and jacking up onto stands when working on it.

is that Ian Steel at Maleny? I saw a Xantia in his yard (but no Jack) but plenty of BX's.

Im sure I remember a full spare wheel kit (wheel carrier foam insert & Jack) among Jims bits and pieces at the CXM. If it didn't go maybe Paul (citroenxm) has it now.

i have a Xantia search saved on ebay in all areas and didn't get that one. i'll try and get hold of him tomorrow and get my collogue who lives in the Gold Coast to pick up any parts i'm after and bring them to the office for me for our office day.

might be able to pick up full spare wheel kit, A/C dash switch and steering wheel with working switches.

I might have a spare jack somewhere around but I'm in the UK and SamKS is in QUEENSLAND, OZ! The carriage would probably be more than a brand new jack!

Thanks Old-Guy, I think a can of "Spare Tyre" and paying extra to have the tyre cleaned after getting a flat will be A LOT cheaper.
