Water swooshing sound when coming to a stop!

Post by cc101 »

Hi all hope everyone is well, I've noticed that when I brake hard and come to a stop I can here a water swooshing sound coming from the left side of the car, I presume it's water inside the sill, are there drain plugs? Has anyone else experienced this?

I've had this in my Xantia before. I think it was in the sill too. There are rubber grommets along the bottom, I took one out to drain the water. I'm sure there must be a drain hole somewhere but it never happened again in mine so didn't look.

I imagine door could be another culprit but I think there are proper drain holes in that.

It's either water in the sill - I had this in my first Xantia. I couldn't find a drain plug, though it appears I was not looking correctly reading the other replies to the thread. I just made a hole in the sill to drain it out. I coated it with jenlolite, then hammerited it and put a bung in. I wrote the car off shortly afterwards, so I'll never know if it lasted or not.

As Chris says, it could also be fuel slosh if you've driving around 3/4 full..
