Citroen C5 1.6 HDI engine starts and cuts out in 3 seconds

hey guys, I have replaced engine on my Citroen, and for some reason car starts for few second and cuts out, everything is connected, and original injectors in place, anyone had something similar? Help

i dont know much about the electronics involved here but it sounds like an immobilisers fault,

maybe something still on the replacement engine you need to swap over from old engine ( fuel pump ?????? )

Don't think it would run at all if immobilised. Have you had work done on the engine thats started this problem?

Could be air ingress to the fuel system.

i have seen a V*A*U*X*H*A*L*L start and cut straight out before with an immobilisers fault

If it starts then stops this is more like fuel. Check your high pressure manifold sensor. Low pressure pump will energise, engine cranks and high pressure pump delivers (at something over 150psi). If pressure drops off the ecu will shut down injectors. (You may be able to con it by shorting out). Check fuel filter as sometimes a blockage will provide enough fuel to crank to 150psi but once the first injector opens it drops and ECU shuts down again.

I presume you have checked fault codes, watched lights etc. to see if management light comes on?
You might try a dynamic monitor. (I don't have Lexia but Autel etc. can dynamically moitor and you can see sensors drop off)

Some maufacturers imobiliser systems do start & run for a second or two when the imobiliser system is active, the ones i can think of off hand that do this are Vauxhall & VAG cars. I cant say im aware of any PSA cars that do this though.

Why was this engine changed in the first place ??

Fuel pump is on from Focus, probably that is the cause, ill try to swam them next week and will see

so has this fault has only shown itself since the engine change, and has the engine run as it should at all since the engine change,

if not o would think it must be something on the replacement lump that needs swapping over from the old one,

car is finally on the road, I changed fuel pump and rail pressure switch from old engine, started from one key turn, happy days now
