as MichealH says, i'd be attempting to repair first, then replace if need be.
on a 51 plate LX i don't see mileage altering what the car is worth, way too old for 'serious devaluation' ?

Just a quick update I got the clocks from my m8 his car had 165k on it but has had no battery now for 6 months and when I plugged it in thinking my milage was about to rocket I got the same milage I had b4 141415 on the down side I had to put a new Altinator in as mine wasn't charging the battery.
