If your desperate to get sorted take it to a garage, you could spend a fortune listening to folk and changing this that and the other and still not cure the fault.

I agree with oneday
If it wasn't a Citroen dealer or specialist then their code reader may not be capable of a thorough diagnosis where a Lexia dedicated diagnostics computer could reveal a lot more. The code will be stored anyway unless they had the capability to clear the codes.

A Lexia will also be able to read live data and give a snapshot of conditions with the engine running and enable you to identify the fault with more accuracy and help eliminate other things seen as possibilities.

Other than that I would suggest finding a recommended diesel specialist who will be better equipped in dealing with your problem.

It will be running over (fully?) advanced I'd guess which is the cause of the noise / smoke. The solenoid was a good thought without a diag though, if I had to guess without a diag it would be that assuming everything else was connected OK.

It should not be much to rectify though, it may be something silly like the TDC sensor adrift.

Ay up!

We had this with one of the minibuses at work. It turned out to be the EGR valve that had stuck wide open. A cable tie sorted it but that was an old-school mechanical diesel.

I would think yours is an all-singing, all-dancing fully electronic gizmo-laden wonderland so a Lexia is the answer.

I had a very simular problem with my berlingo van no guts and bellowing out black smoke it turned out to be a blocked exhaust system drop the exhaust and see if its got the revs back ( its a bit loud when you try it )

It's probably running in 'limp' mode because the fault code hasn't been cleared - needs a Lexia!
