Fitting drivers side anti roll bar

hi, need some help on fitting an anti roll bar to the front drivers side and also the ball joint on the same side!! is this a job that could be DIY'd?!

If it's the bottom ball joint you mean then you need the special tool to remove it as it unscrews. They can be very tight and hard to remove in some cases. The anti-roll bar should be pretty straightforward. Do you mean the link between the anti-roll bar and the strut?

Im not 100% sure i havnt had time to take of the wheel and look yet..i brought it for the test and it failed on what he called the front drivers side anti roll bar and ball joint..i was told that taking apart a ball joint is a ball breaker of a job so just said id ask here first before i bring it to the mechanic!

The failure as quoted doesn't make any sense - an anti-roll bar by definition connects the front or rear suspension from one side to the other. The only thing that would make sense is wear in whatever connects the bar to the suspension on that side.

If you add exact model and year of car to your signature, it will be possible for someone to provide better help.

it may well be the anti roll bar bush... a rubber thing that is clamped round the roll bar and to the chassis.. change both sides if it is that part.. shouldnt be a bad job..

what car is it though?

I would whip back to the MoT station and ask them to actually point at the bit it failed on, you'll know for sure then.
