Key Cutting

Post by boristhespie »

Okay so seeing loads of signs saying "we now cut car keys" I bought a key with chip for my c5. Of course they couldn't cut it.

Does anyone know anywhere up north that can cut my key (Maybe even through post).

I think I could program it using my LExia. Instrauctions didn't seem too difficult hence why I thought of doing it.

Not 'oop north' but you could ask if he can do them by post. I can recommend him, I bought a 2001 Xantia HDI without keys, he came to my place. cut and programmed (from the code card) the main key and chucked in a spare door key all for £70.00

I was looking at these people http://www.carkeyhelp.co.uk/products/Ci ... ade-1.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (although you have bought a key) £20 for what I wanted and they are able to cut from a photo. For once the dealer price is similar so ordered from them using the vin number. For my Xantia key, cut, key code and plip rivet set just over £25 which didn't seem that bad. Pick it up saturday then we will see if it really is that easy to code a new key and reprogramme a remote plip ;-)

Incidentally I got my cose about a year back from some guy who was looking them up for everyone on another forum. I lost it. Anyone have an idea of where this was or at least how to get the cost from the vin number without paying the stealer.

You can also get them off Matthew Hannant for about £4, he gives all two or three (if factory coded radio) codes for that.
