wonky electrics on C5
OKay I have mentioned before on my c5 lx hdi 110 that the suspension lights come on with a beep occasionally. All of them at once. It seems to be when I am using other electrics like putting on main beam sometime indicating. I just drive through it.
I also have an airbag warning and regularly go through bulbs.
Now however there has been a couple of occasions when the lights have come on despite my not turning them on. I find the dash lit up and main beams etc on while driving and the stalk for light stil set to off.
Are my electrics on was out and am I looking at EXPENSIVE annoyance or is it just needing a new battery?

No, it's an LX.oneday wrote:does it have auto lights and wipers
Have you a battery charger Boris?
It may pay you to make certain that the current battery is fully charged and in good condition before you embark on further expenditure.
It sounds to me like the comms2000 unit is going loopy but it may be some other item as I don't think the airbags are controlled by that.
Any chance you can get it to a Lexia owner?
How was it on the journey to France and back?

Can charge battery I guess it's not too much to buy charger. Comms unit. That's expensive isn't it? Darn and I just got rid of the other c5.
Journey back from France was fantastic. I have never known driving up from Portsmouth to be so devoid of traffic as it was after Oxford. Must have been first week of English school hols or something because it wasn't as hairy as usual. France was easy as mince. No lorries no cars and once past Preston all gravy.
Wasn't so much a holiday as first time had summer in France without father in law, which was wierd.
There was a Citroen exhibition for kids in the nearby town when I was there but I missed it.
THanks for asking.

Comms2000 is around £200 plus fitting - it is (allegedly) fairly easy to do it yourself.
I believe that Chris (citroenmad) has fitted one himself.
Try to narrow it down and eliminate that as a problem.

Re: wonky electrics on C5
I have just replaced the comms 2000 on my c5 lx, I had similar faults, I paid about £25 for mine on ebay one thing to watch when you buy it if you buy a secondhand one is what car it has come off as estates have rear wash wipe but hatchbacks dont, the wiper arm looks like it has a switch on hatchback but it doesnt ! guess which i bought for my estate car !! oops one day i will change it again.
Its very easy to change took me less than half an hour and you dont need the lexia.

Re: wonky electrics on C5
So you can just plug another car's comms2000 unit in and it works? I was under the impression that it would need to be coded to the car but I'm glad to hear I was wrong.

Re: wonky electrics on C5
i will check the part number on my old unit, to be honest i guessed it was cheap and worth a try, There is a guy on ebay who will repair your old unit but wont do ones with air bag faults which mine and i think yours has.
