Hello, can anyone advice on weather the sub frame has to come out in order to remove the gearbox from a 2000 zsara picasso, 1.8 16v, thanks

if its anything like my xsara 2.0 hdi then no you can get enough space. but remove both driveshafts first

Subframe does not need to be dropped :)
