The chrome strips on my Xantia front and back bumpers have got some sort of condensation on the inside of them, brings down the look of the car. Anyone know were I can get replacements, or know how much they are from a dealer.
If not I was thinking of painting them, anyone know how to get the off? Thanks
Karl
Xantia Bumper Chrome Strips

This is a common Xantia problem...no one has come up with a 'cure' but if you do, please let us all know what you did...here's the thread with the 'how to remove' and other musings on this disfiguring blistering which unfortunately turns out to be NOT condensation at all...read on

Is it at all possible to replace the strips with appropriately sized Stainless steel strips? I'm sure this might look quite good and will never rust - albeit a little unlike pseudo-chrome. And anyway, who really wants pseudo-chrome? I have also noticed this egg like discolouration on mine and when I first noticed it, rubbed like mad (Doh).
That's good thinking, kafkaian.
Stainless strips of the appropriate width could just be slid
into the space when the plastic pseudo chrome has been removed,
and would look, as you say, probably better.
Where to get such strips of stainless steel?
Probably a completely auto-unrelated merchant,
like bathroom or interior decorator...
can't think of anywhere offhand.
Anybody got any ideas?
