Remove inlet intercooler pipes and remove the small inlet intake steel pipe 2x 13mm nuts.. break the seal.. you can then get at it.. 3x 10mm bolts and lift it off.. theres no need to remove the full inlet you can squeeze it past the inlet this way...

fit and re assemble.. ...use a slight thin layer of instant goo on the inlet steel pipe when re fitting...

What a blimmen Ball ache that job was!!!! Crikey, popped the inelt pipes off and the air pipe off the corner as one of the vacumn hoses had come off, but could i get the cover out!!! the metal pipe retainer clips on the back of the housing gave no end of grief, especially as i couldnt get a socket on it, the ring end of the spanner was loose on it and could only get the open end of for an 1/8th turn each time!!!! got it out and was simple then!! went back together a lot easier!! even managed not to have any left over parts!!!! :-D
old cover was the original looking at it, Rock hard!! and the gearbox end bolt was loose which no doubt didnt help the slight oil loss out that side!!
will get some degreaser up on it and wash it off so its clean and easier to spot whats where dreckly!! ;-)

Sorry you had trouble with it. I find it helps if when you've removed the three retaining bolts (and pushed the coolant pipe down the back of it out the way, you just lift it up a little bit, slide it to the side so one of the "dips" on the rear edge matches up with the inlet pipe, then rotate it out by lifting the back edge up.

I tried every conceivable way to get it out without taking the clips off but it wouldn't come out!!
