Occam's Razor

Post by Old-Guy »

In dealing with my recent LHM leak, I forgot an ancient philosophical principle, in the English-speaking world usually called Occam's Razor:

"We consider it a good principle to explain the phenomena by the simplest hypothesis possible" Ptolemy

by phenomena, he meant (all) the verified facts of the matter.

As a trainee programmer many years ago, I learnt the value of this and also to never ignore evidence that doesn't fit your current explanation; but to not forget the possibility of more than one fault complicating matters.

A very true phrase, I'll have to remember that!
