Just changed. manual gearbox oil now much better.
Gear change much smoother and the whining noise at 40 reduced. Easy and cheap job to do recommended to all.
Volvo S80 D5.........

Excellent news. 
Tis worth changing it now and again especially if you do not know when it was last done. I must get around to doing mine at some point.
