They do come to bits but is is a bit of a fiddle. There are a couple of mentions of repairs but could take some excavating.
The usual problem seems to be the resistor going open circuit, so a very cheap fix if that is all is needed.

This is the estate version. IIRC the saloon is much simpler and is just standard bulbs.
I think replacement is covered in the handbook.
ETA: Handbook page.

Thanks Myglaren, mine is the estate I have had it of the car but it looks like it is sealed and would require a bit of cutting to get to the inside I just wondered if anyone had done it.

I can ask the bloke who has my estate if he still has the old one - it needed a new tailgate.

No, only what I have read on the forum. A couple of people have replaced the resistor and got the light to work again. Even bunging a few new LEDs in would save a lot of money.

He's in Ireland until Tuesday. How do I know? He is supposed to be doing the rear brakes on my car this weekend :(

I have been to see him this evening and have retrieved the light if you want it.
PM me your address and I'll get it packed up and sent off.

Steve, Received the light on Friday thanks, not had time to fit it yet been replacing a radius arm bearings, had the other side replaced by a garage and was not happy with their work so decided to do this one myself, what a pig the R clip just would not budge, job done now and all quiet at the rear.
