2.0 hdi with hydraulic sphere by the gearbox
I have just bought a replacement engine for my C5, it has come with the gearbox still connected, it has a sphere mounted near the gearbox, it has the same RHZ engine code as my C5, what car would this have come from ? I was told it was from a 206 but clearly not.

xantias have the accumulator sphere down on the front of the engine near the gear box, rhy and rhz were both in the xantia rhy being 90 brake and rhz being 110, other than a xantia maybe a c5 with hydrolics,

C5,s don't have accumulator spheres, must be a Xantia engine, post a picture up if you can and we will all tell you what you have

The only possibility I can imagine is that it is the centre sphere from an Hydractive 3+.
What colour is it?

Re: 2.0 hdi with hydraulic sphere by the gearbox
the sphere is green and is the round one like on a bx, am I likely to run into any problems fitting a xantia engine in the C5, I have the old engine complete so can swap bits over?

Couldn't say with any accuracy. I imagine that the suspension pump will have to go and the power steering pump and aircon pump for the C5 made to fit, may need a revision to the serpentine belt, otherwise you should be OK.
The green sphere and the accumulator it will be mounted on will be completely redundant too.

Re: 2.0 hdi with hydraulic sphere by the gearbox
I would think it will fit, but the amount of differences will be huge, I fitted a used engine in a Pug 307 a while back, the only difference was the make of turbo, you wouldn't believe how many things this effected.
As usual you always swear you will not do another

I think I will strip it right back and use all the bits off the C5 engine rather than trying to modify stuff, once they are side by side on the workshop floor should be reasonably straightforward

I was told the only bits the same on Xantia HDI engine to a C5 engine are block & head,

All C5s are multiplexed aren't they? The engine ECU might be an issue.imperial21 wrote:I was told the only bits the same on Xantia HDI engine to a C5 engine are block & head,

Re: 2.0 hdi with hydraulic sphere by the gearbox
Seems the Xantia engine is a less then straightforward swap, the major difference is the placing of the turbo oil return pipe, as it would require drilling into the block to relocate it, decided to admit defeat, so I have bought another engine which is from a C5, luckily I got the guy to take the Xantia engine back as he had listed it as a C5 engine which it clearly wasn't, thought he was going to set the scruffy yard dog on me
