Ok now past 8 weeks and after a week to think about it Citroen France think its the abs unit, and the ESP unit. But the dealer need to check some bits and bobs first and there is some sort of issue over who pays for it.
So maybe getting somewhere. Maybe not.

10 weeks today!
No it's not fixed.
A new abs unit (more than £900) has been fitted. No different.
I am assured Citroen are sending someone out but don't know when or how long till they will know.
I will be cross if its just the engine speed sensor!

Please keep posting updates mooseshaver – I'm following this saga with interest; and some trepidation, having bought an older model around the same time as you bought yours . . .

Yes, I'm also following this with interest. Not a good advert for Citroen or the later C5 :(

Today I went to the Dealer and spoke with the Technician.
Citroen France told them to swap the ABS unit with another to try as they felt thats what it was.
But because they don't keep them, a new one had to be purchased and paid for by the garage I bought it from, its a non returnable item to Citroen.
That did not work, so a Field Engineer will they hope land next week, the Tech is just waiting for a phonically this morning to confirm when the visit will happen.

I did ask if an engine speed sensor had been tried because thats what all the faults say is an issue, but apparently that information is provided by the abs computer, but not the cam timing sensor.

Well, the compensation for being without your car for so long is that when it's finally fixed, it will be virtually NEW

So it appears that Citroen will not allow a field tech out because the car is too old.
In all my dealings with main dealer and Citroen not one person has mentioned this until now. Despite suggesting one would come out in the first week the car was at the dealers.
Back to checking cables.

So the Citroen Dealer cannot fix the car, despite spending around £3500 so far.
Doe anyone here have any ideas? They have replaced the ABS unit and no change. They have checked the wiring three times.
Below is the last Lexia I could get, in the brief time I had it back after the first time they "fixed it"

I don't know if we are moving forward or backwards or staying still.
Some small hope. Citroen area manager thinks Citroen tech should come out and has told them. The Dealer needs to resubmit the request to find out if they will.

Another update. just after the last update I found the MOT was due in a month, I found I could check the history online.
Car has never passed an MOT first time. Always fails on ESP/ABS faults and lack of power steering. Then passes the same day at the same garage.
Since the fault was not everytime for me I guess the garage testing it just left it for a bit and retested later.
The advisory note on the last MOT (again on it second attempt of the day) had been removed and this also stated the ESP/ABS fault.
I passed this onto the garage I bought it from, who passed the information and problems that the Main Dealer is having identifying and fixing the faults to where they bought it from (a lease car company).
Within 30 mins the lease company had been back on the phone to say they had faults like this on their cars sometimes becasue they fit black boxes that monitor driving, milage and record gps position, and that it was possible they had left one on.
They drove from who knows where to the Main Dealer and removed the black box that was still there.
The car has not been tried since, I think because the wiring loom is still a mess from its testing.
Also Citroen have agreed to send out a Field Tech so on the 8th of October someone should be looking at the car to fix the faults!

I have been hinted at that I should not contact the Main Dealer again because there will not be any more updates until then.

I do wonder where on the car you can hide a black box that must plug into the wiring loom somewhere but not be found by someone inspecting the entire wiring loom three times. :?

Citroen field tech called in sick for the past two days. No one knows how long until he comes to look at the car.
Do Citroen really only have one of them?
