Xantia drivers Arm rest a bit Floppy!

Post by Timmo »

Morning all,
the arm rest in the xanty is quite Floppy and wobbly and tends to lean Down towards the handbrake and over towards the passenger seat a fair bit,
am wondering really if its possible to remove it and improve its position a little bit??? ive seen a 406 up the yard that had a squeezey quick release for the armrest which i assumed the Xanty would too but ive not see a way to be able to pop it off!

any help or tips gratefully recieved!!!

many thanks in advance,

Timmo.

Remove it... yes. Fix it .. No.
If I remember correctly you have to allign the arm rest with the seat back and ease it off the pin that it sits on.
If you can imagine a bracket with a center hole and a C shaped cut out. Thats whatb the seat mount looks like. At the bottom of the C there's a hole to allow a roller mechanism, attached to the rear of the arm rest, to be removed. Thats where the wear occours but there's no replacement available... at least not from Citroen.

Mine is pointing a bit too far down for my liking too. I've had it off to check and see but I was hoping maybe the bracket in the seat could be rotated back to make it stop higher.

This is a common problem on which Citroen issued a service bulletin on, the cause is down to a black plastic collar wearing out or more likely falling off the end of the main mounting pin, the roller may still be in the bottom of the seat but if not and/or its worn out new rollers were available as a spare part, when I get the chance I'll have a look through my stash of spares as I think I may have a bag of them.

If you find spares and would be prepared to part with one. Please let me know how much as I couldn't get any from my Citroen dealer.
Thanks,
Chris

Half a dozen wrps or so od Duck tape reduces the wobble somewhat, looking at the seat side of it, its just a simple spring ike section that depicts the position of the arm, would have thought that a spot of weld or a good blob of solder would stop the roller going too far up and thus dropping the arm down so low?? Obviously, taken out the seat first! ;-)
Roller was a bit bigger than expected mind! Haha! Just thought it was a small metal job! The nylon bush on mine was fine, a few marks but that was about it,
Might have a play with the spring bit at some point dreckly, but is less floppy now so that's better! :-D
