collapsed aux tensioner.. managed to get to friends and left car there..

what worries me is that the car sounded like a bag of nails for the last 2 miles..(and I had some EM light)..
I didn't run it with the belt off, which was silly as it would have confirmed the noise.. the noise was only on throttle really.. either I am hugely unlucky and the IP has gone wrong at the same time.. or a bit of belt has got into the crank pulley.. or the noise is just part of the tensioner failing..
anyway, belt and tensioner first and will see.. but will run it for a bit with belt cut before fitting tensioner..

dont run it again till you have checked inside the cam belt cover for any stray aux belt slithers,
if it has got in there and has not caused the cam belt to jump to many teeth, it could still do so if you start the engine again before checking,

ok update.. returned to car and removed cambelt covers, starter etc and looks like the injection pump only, was a tooth out.. lucky!
fitted new cambelt by side of road.. and now waiting to get another aux and sort the tensioner out.. part of the collapsed one is shown in the pic.. steel inner is pretty gone..

this tensioner was a cheapish ebay job fitted about 1 year ago.. nuff said I think..

or.... am I overtightening something? ..

I now have a good car again, after possibly the longest unplanned holiday from it.. 2 weeks..
Put a new aux on today, (and secondhand tensioner) fitted everything back on, all fine :)
