Xantia HDi - what size ball joint separator for wishbone?

Post by mrjohnson »

The rear bush on one of the front wishbones is starting to go, so I'm going to replace it. I only have a 19mm gap fork type splitter, which won't fit and in any case a fork looks like it will damage the ball joint seal.

Anyone know what size ball joint separator I need? Looks to me like 23 or 24mm jaw width.

Thanks

You need a good one Martyn,

I favour the scissor type. This is a good example...

You also need a big club hammer to go with it as a good clonk from it when the scissor is under tension really helps the joint to separate.

I don't know specifically but as long as it's around three quarters of an inch it'll be OK.

This Franklin one is a very good one.
