Xantia diesel value

Post by bm55 »

Just signed up, I have been tasked with selling a friends Xantia and wondering what its worth.

The car is a 1.9 TD and has covered less than 60k. I have had it advertised a while now for £850 but no interest..

what would be a bottum value for the car, it has plenty M.O.T./Tax left and the engine itself is good for another 150k.

Mileage is genuine, all service history, M.O.T. certs present. Do they have a following on here? thanks

They sure do have a following here and are very much loved!

This forum usually goes off on a wander discussing the merits
of little used low mileage cars versus high mileage always used
and maintained ones with fans for each and it doesn't necessarily
mean low mileage means future trouble free motoring!!

The price you've posted is probably at the high end of value
on these now with somewhere around 2/3 being more real world
but of course this all does depend on the age and model/spec as
well as your consideration of the mileage.

Big factor that will influence value is whether the car is an estate,
a low trim level or high spec one, even colour can influence appeal
etc...

ebay will usually find the current market value at the end of the
day mind!

Thanks for the reply. I appriciate what you are saying but its been serviced annually whatever the mileage covered in that period & been very well cared for.
Its a 1996 car, hatchback, mid spec..where would this place it? thanks

Look at the white car recently sold for £395 on this site by "Lighty". Probably in many ways a close cousin to your offering, although he - as a recognised independent technician - would likely get a better price for the perceived extra peace of mind.

Similar age, similar spec with lowish miles, well under 100k anyhow:
