Post by daveth »

Probably not. The 2.2 would probably have a heavier box (early ones had 4HP20). They would also vary by series, the gear ratios would certainly be wrong and the various ECUs are quite fussy about these things, not to mention different driveshafts and hubs and probably different mountings to the engine.

You could put the VIN numbers into service.citroen.com and check the transmission part numbers

Hmmm.! Physically probably assuming the torque converter dimensions were identical, electronically could be some gotchers! I believe the ECU's are the same basic box and I would expect communication to be the same i.e CANBUS, and to have pretty well identical data parameters if not values sent down the wire, the main most important piece of data that gets sent down this bus is Torque related i.e actual torque and demanded torque I reckon it would work just not sure how well, you might never get into top gear :-) If you could read the torque maps from both ECU's you may well be able to rewrite the maps much as you would for an engine ECU which would only leave the issue of final drive ratio's. Definitley a project for a multi discipline talented individual with a good workshop well equipped with both mechanical and electronic tools who want's a challenge :-)
