The turbo on my 1.9td Xantia, has recently started to whine, it's not terrible, but it's was previously silent. It sounds a bit like a mk 1 Audi quattro now.
Is this serious?
Would an oil change be the first thing to try?`
Thanks
Paul

Re: Turbo whine
I would check the hoses from the turbo for looseness or splits. Providing the oil has been changed regularly that shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Turbo whine
Could be any of the things mentioned, but is often caused by damage to the compressor blades having been hit by debris.
I once had one re- balanced, I was sceptical to say the least, but was totally silent afterwards.
