consumption ideas

Post by civvie »

Greeting Citroenites,
This is like how long is a bit of string, but for all you C5 owners what would be your average fuel consumption be as per the read out on the onboard computer, its for a 2.2HDI SX hatchback (not driven by a boy racer).
Thanks,
Steve

Depends, but not as much as I expected to be honest. With the A/C on and doing mainly town driving with a little motorway, mine has shown as low as 34MPG. Having turned the AC off and done a few motorway runs in the last few days, its now showing 41MPG. However my motorway runs are done with the cruise set at 90mph, and I don't hang around anyway. If you drive conservatively I don't see why you couldn't improve on my figures.

Hmm, that isn't bad for a 180BHP car. My Diesel BX averages 55 but has only 70 BHP so it is so slow that most of the consumption is due to evaporation!

With this car, I would think if you tootled around at 60 - 70 ( especially with cruise on ), you should expect to see around the late 40's early 50's. Of course, this will drop with town use.
My dad has a 406 110Hdi, and gets high 50's, he doesn't gun it, but he's not a slouch either, and there's no cruise !

Thanks for the comments, one thing I forgot to mention it for an auto..
I assume the figures would be a few miles per gallon less.

I think at most, I've lost 1MPG since I've had the tuning box fitted. It really hasn't made much difference to the consumption at all.
I suppose 40MPG isn't bad the way I drive, 2.0 petrol cars I've driven have always returned about 30MPG, so 10MPG and about 50BHP more isn't bad going. Fuel consumption never used to bother me when I had a jobs fuel card, watching £50 spill into the tank after having not bought any fuel with my own money in 3 years is a bit painful!
The HDi 110 is a very frugal engine, 50mpg is easy from these.
