Xantia water-in-diesel warning light stuck on

Post by Napoleon »

It's permanently on. The guy at the garage told me that t's a faulty sensor, and it can just be disconnected. But I don't know where to look for this elusive sensor/wire. Does this photo of the fuel filter help at all? Are those electrical connectors anything to do with the sensor?

Its not those, its on the back, you can just unplug it. The later models never had one, they deleted it as it was not worth the trouble I think.

Let me find a pic...

Not my pic, Google search turned that up. Thats it unscrewed from the housing. Caution: Don't unscrew yours! , you can see what it looks like though. Just take the plug off it and you should be done.

All my 205's had the same issue, they never had any water in them either.

That's right Andy, the sensor was deleted in 1995 I believe, just before the AS3 pump came along. Might have been earlier as I recall dad's M plate 205D did not have it.

Therefore perfectly safe to disconnect it...

Peugeot part numbers:

The blanking plug instead of the switch (not needed for yourself I know, but I'll post it in case it helps someone in the future via a search) 191715 is item number 7

The actual "I can haz water in fuelz" (sorry) sensor is 191305 is item number 6
