Wind deflectors

Post by MonkeyMark »

Has anyone tried wind deflectors on their cars? Do they make any difference?

Seen some for the C8 on ebay for £35 for the 4 piece set. If people recon they make a difference i may take a look.
Happy(ish) C8 owner.

Had them on my Vel Satis, they do surprisingly work quite well. If you do take the plunge i have a little tip for fitting them, either do it on a warm day or warm the plastic up with a hairdryer before fitting. They are quite brittle when cold and easily break so be very carefull.

If you mean the tinted plastic ones that fit onto the door frames I'd leave them well alone on at least the front doors unless the door has 1/4 lights which means that the deflector will only be on top of the window. I drove a few cars at work that had them fitted and found them bloody dangerous as they effective widened the 'A' pillar due to the tinting/distortion.

I had a set fitted to my A Class and currently have some on the Prius. The biggest advantage is being able to open the window for ventilation when it's raining without getting water inside the car. I buy mine via ebay from a german supplier.

I had them in my previous car, installed by the previous owner. I don't think they are really necessary.
I wouldn't install to my Xantia since it's air conditioned and I never had to to drive with window open :)

Got the four piece set fitted to my car they look good. The reason i got them was on the C5 you can open the windows open a little via the key so on a warm day i could leave the windows open and it did not matter if it rained.

Also you can not really tell the windows are open a little with them fitted.
