what's it worth

Post by merlin22red »

Dunno if this is the right place to ask but
I am slowly coming to the conclusion this 2.2 C5 and me should be parting company, I am getting fed up of spending time under the bonnet.
sorted the particulate filter by re writing the ecu and removing the filter innards, fitted new abs sensor after my mate with a lexia told me the LHF was faulty, but it still reads faulty, so I think the end is nigh
so what is a 2002 sx 2.2 hdi in red with high ish milage 166000 and 11 months test worth, it drives well all filters changed, all new pads just before i bought it tyres are nearly ready for replacing, slight tear on drivers seat back. and still in the mucky condition I bought it in, (need a good valeting)
I only bought it to allow me time to do repairs on me other car, but have not had time to even start on it yet
any ideas what it might be worth if I placed it in the sales section, before I set fire to it.
oops also about 5 ltrs of new gsf particulate filter additive in its oil tank plus maybe a litre and a half left in the container to go with it

Given its condition and mileage im afraid probably very little. You regularly see really nice condition 2.2's on ebay sell for a good bit less than £1000. For a quick sale possibly not a lot more than £500 which is a shame because its a lot of car for the money. Maybe youl be better off givng it a clean and trying to sort a few more of the problems before sale, sam

I would sort it if it was worth it sam, but as i said I only bought it as a run about while I dropped the engine out of my grand cherokee, but I have had to spend so much time on the c5 the cherokee is just stood, so now after having many citroens from the Cx 2.4 and a diesel estate, BX and 3.0 xm, this shed of a thing is probably my last.
I might just run it until the test runs out then send it to the crushers, if it continues to run that long, although at the moment the engine is great

If you have the facilities and time you could probably make several thousand breaking it for parts

Your no doubt going to make a loss if you sell, if its getting somewhere near to working correctly I would be keeping it, as they are not worth a great deal and the 2.2s don't sell as well as the 2.0s anyway.

Don't let a bad example of a C5 put you off Citroens, they are very good cars.
