Cool. Let us know how you get on with it.

Any chance you can unscrew the back off the main module and get a photo of the internals, Jabo.

The reason I ask is because there are certain sellers on Ebay who reckon theirs are better quality than others and on one listing he does show photos, this other seller.

Words are cheap! Evidence by comparison is KING!

Yeah I'll do this tomorrow.
I've played with it a bit and it seems to work very well, all functions work.
One thing I wanted to do was dump the EPROM in my Marelli 48P2 ECU to investigate remapping it but just like the other cables I have (Galletto and MPPS) the Lexia couldn't do it :-/

Cheers, Jabo.

You sound too clever for me. Dumping EPROM. I know what it is but I'd have no idea how to go about.

When you email photo of inside, let me know a number as I might know of a programme that will do it but I have no idea how to use it.

I've given up on communicating with this ECU via cables and also on the thought of desoldering the EPROM. Instead my OH has just purchased me a Dastek Unichip piggyback ECU for my birthday, which works just fine on this engine/ECU :D

Here's the insides of my Lexia:

Thanks Jabo.

Funnily enough, the seller that had flash photos saying his was the best quality no longer has a live listing and the photos seem to have disappeared off his ended listing.

I'll keep an eye out for him relisting in the meantime.

Hi

I would like to share with you some photos of a Lexia's friend bought by Ebay.
He is not clear exactly where it comes from. We have had problems with both the software that came bundled with the inteface as well can not install over Windows 7 and some versions downloaded by Emule as tests.

Have been tested Lexia3 v41, v42, v43, v45. Only the v41 allowed a good installation on windows 7 but could not establish communication with the computer of the car. The other versions are installed but generate an error related to Java and Mozilla when they are starting. I think the could work fine over Win XP.

What is your opinion about this circuitry? Could be responsible for these problems? Please excuse the pict size. In order to better show the details of the chips I posted them in a good size.

Thanks

Been thinking about getting a lexia myself as I want a couple of keys doing. This got me thinking.
Is it the lexia's that are used to re-map the ecu's or is that different?

Totally different, Lexia's read the ecu's, clear fault codes and can be used to change program functions such as how the electric items work but if you want to do a re-map you'll need another method such as a Galetto cable or similar.

On the contrary, they're dirt cheap. 20 quid on eBay, that's where I got mine.

The expensive part is getting a tuned EPOM dump. You can download yours and e-mail it to a tuner who will tune it for a fee or you can investigate tuning it yourself. There's many guides on doing it online but it is VERY technical and the software isn't easy to get a hold of unless you want to buy it :-P

That sounds interesting, may be something i'd like to look into.

Dont suppose you have any links to guides or the software? I dont really know what to search for to get the right results. Dont mean to be a pain, i'd just spend all day getting nowhere.

Also, I wonder if there would be anyone on here who already has a mapped version they would be kind enough to share? ;-)

http://www.ecuconnections.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; has the guides for popular ECU's. You'll obviously need to check your ECU model then read the appropriate guide.

Thanks. I'm having a look through the site now, see what I can gleam from it.

I take it you did yours. Did you find it easy enough? Any problems with it?

I haven't done mine yet, I've spent about 6 months researching it and deciding on the best method for modifying my ECU. My ECU is a picky bugger, can't modify it over OBD. Can only desolder the EPROM or install a piggyback. I've went the piggyback route.
