HDI 110 Xantia jobs nearly done.

Post by Stepto1 »

Right, the old girl is doing me proud at the mo....

Drove up from Plymouth to Nottingham yesterday with three of us on it and my foot down. Got back on £40 which works out as 44 mpg which I'm happy with. (I do have a lead foot!)

She rides great, stops well, the engine is sweet (except a rattling bottom pully) and the performance is great.

However, just a few jobs left.

-Still got the side airbag light on. Goes off after starting but comes back on after a few seconds.

-Slight judder from the front under heavy braking. Warped discs?

-Steering heavy when first started. LHM flush needed?

-Cooling fans still not working. Relays changed. Duff motors?

-Finally, just a real eyesore, the front seats have fag burns in them. Is there anyway of getting them repaired or is it just best to keep looking for a better set? Grey with small rhombus shaped dark grey pattern.

Many thanks.

Try to spin the fans by hand (with the ignition off they're sharp) as sometimes they get stuck in one positon.. mine did anyway and the motor wasn't enough to turn it. Also when I remove and replaced the relays I found a good bit of corrosion on the contacts.
My aribag light turned out to be the connections on the white connector under the seat. I just carefully put a very small screwdriver between the plastic and the metal connector and bent it very slightly so that contact was remade when the two connector halves were put together. Ihope that makes sense.
I hope that helps.

Thanks Chris, the fans spin freely so will check elsewhere.

I'll have a look under the seats for that white connection.

Steve.
