c3 1.4 53 plate, petrol, ecu problem

my citroen c3, loss of power while driving then cuts out, engine management light comes on, car will restart a few minutes later and drive ok then cut out again and restart, error code P0608 showing
no problems starting car and will sit and idle on driveway without any cutting out, only seems to lose power and cut out while driving

Don't tend to use the fault code no,s myself, but google says vehicle speed information. C3 has either a speed transducer in the gearbox, if this fails, then the car can cut out when coming upto junctions etc, utif this transducer is not present, it gets it's speed info through the ABS sensors, and that goes through the ABS Ecu, these fail regularly also.

thanks for the advice, i been advised by a garage that the ECU is faulty and needs a new one, big money, but it seems to me that the ecu is doing its job and entering its backup mode overriding a faulty sensor
