Re: Mods for the C5???

Post by C5Alan »

With the promise of a fresh MOT next week I have come up with a few ideas on what I want to do with her over the next few months as and when a few extra pennies become available, happy to get feedback on my ideas

Carbon fibre or matt black film the bonnet - will cover some light scratches. Does the section with the washer jets come off not had a proper look yet??? She is a dark grey colour so will the black look odd???
Delete all the chrome using the left over film from above and debadge the back they are just stuck on right???
Respray the standard alloys gun metal grey
Dark wing mirrors
Possible light tint of the windows
As you can guess I am thinking stealth look to the outside but with a diesel under the bonnet. Not going to do anything to drastic or that cant be changed back easily in the future

I have done the big stereos in the past and have used both OE and after market head units but I am happy with the current set up maybe just upgrade the speakers a bit as I have found OE speakers can be a bit weak are crackly at high volumes. Plus I need my boot for work

Power wise has anyone used the cone filters to any success they can give a nice engine note on an petrol but dono about a diesel

The black section with the washer jets is easy to remove, pop the bonnet and you will see a grey twist type locking plastic nut either side, just turn both of them and the black panel lifts clear.

I like this :)

A cone filter can be good if it's located in a position where it won't suffer from heat soak or in an enclosure/with a heat shield.

Don't like the lip spoiler much. I'd like something more substantial.

Just want to answer a question I had asked if the rear badges where just stuck on they are stuck on but have a pin out the back to position well the N in Citroen does didn't see the point in checking any others :(

Now does anyone know of a source of black badges or new ones I can spray black and fit as I don't think the current ones will stick back on easily

A bit too disco for me, I just pimped my X7 with some coloured LEDs for the interior lights, pavement lights, boot and number plate with these W5W LED blades and they are perfect. I may change the 'purple' ones in summer to tone it down a bit as they came out a bit to 'fluffy dice pink' - should of been a deeper purple.

And for the X7, here is a mod I did adding an OEM glasses / sunglasses case to the driver's door grip with detailed pictures:

Looks good. I don't use the disco setting but keep it at orange as it matches my dash and mood lighting already fitted to the car. I was thinking about changing the kerb light for one that shines a Citroen image.

I just realised I duplicated one of the images - what a plonker - fixed now.

I was going to go for amber, but they ran out, so decided on these as they are not expensive to replace.

Just purchased these from Amazon for £12. Only used one as there was no power going into the passenger side, but that might have been me when replacing the window regulator so will have a look some other day as I can't see them only having one side light up.

Image

I had to remove the link as it took me to the Land Rover lights. Funny as its the same link I sent my son to buy on Amazon and they sent me the Citroen ones.

Gary.
